Left Handed Golf Says:
From a left handed golfer’s perspective, this PING Scottsdale TEC putter lineup sounds seriously impressive. Left Handed Golf likes the Eye-Q alignment idea for helping settle your gaze over the ball, while the soft PEBAX insert and high-MOI construction should give a really confidence-inspiring blend of feel, forgiveness, and consistency on the greens.
Scottsdale TEC putters are designed and influenced by our work with Tour players and research by our innovation team in the PING Putting Lab. The striking new look sets the putters apart while introducing an exciting new alignment technology to help golfers sink more putts. The Scottsdale TEC putters were developed using a proven eye tracking technique known as Quiet Eye. This new alignment technology, called Eye-Q, provides a unique focal point on the top rail of Scottsdale TEC putters. Using this dot focal point and a long alignment line, players can ‘quiet’ their eyes before their stroke. The dot provides a clear, discrete anchor for the golfer’s gaze, making it easier to maintain a stable fixation right when they need it. This stability is critical for the quiet-eye period.
The Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue and Ketsch models offer an onset hosel position, which places the shaft near the centre line of the putter head, behind the top rail and in front of the CG. The onset hosel position provides a full-face view of the ball to aid in alignment. The CG position behind the shaft axis ensures it is pulled (rather than pushed) through the stroke for stability and preserves the torque and dynamic feel of a slight arc or straight-arc model.
A one-piece PEBAX insert in the Scottsdale TEC putters delivers a slightly softer feel and distance control. PEBAX elastomer, a material commonly used in the soles of athletic shoes for its elastic properties, is a lightweight, high-energy-return compound that delivers a soft yet responsive feel.
The lightweight aluminium body and dense stainless steel sole plate position weight low and to the perimeter in the Scottsdale TEC putters to ensure extreme MOI and optimal CG for high forgiveness and consistent roll. Weight savings from the PEBAX insert cavity provide discretionary weight to further optimise performance.
